The Moth's mission is to promote the art and craft of storytelling and to honor and celebrate the diversity and commonality of human experience.

The Moth is a nonprofit dedicated to storytelling. Since 1997, The Moth has presented more than fifty thousand stories at live events. The stories are short, impactful and less pretentious than TED Talks. More story. Less lesson More range of emotion.

The heart of the Moth is it's StorySlams, which are live competitions in clubs bars and local theatres. Ten people take the stage to tell a story in 5 minute or less. The audience picks a winner.

The winners go on to GrandSlams, which are competitions between StorySlam winners. Bigger venues, more polished stories, same format.

The podcast has been around since 2008 and has over 900 episodes.

Some stories live on beyond the live competitions. The Moth publishes a weekly hour long show and a podcast each which, with 5 and 2 stories respectively. These shows fit a common theme.

Moth content can be found on PBS Radio, YouTube, and wherever you binge podcasts. The Moth also publishes books, runs workshops, and provides other online resources for story tellers.

Since launching in 1997, The Moth has presented over 40,000 true personal stories, told live, without notes, to standing-room-only audiences around the globe. The Moth produces approximately 600 live shows each year in 28 cities worldwide.
