International Women's Day
I'm grateful for the women who've contributed to my life. Starting with my own mom, aunts, and teachers who taught me many lessons you can't learn in books. I've reported to women for more of my career than men and benefited from their leadership.
I've volunteered with some amazing women who volunteer for political causes and hold positions in state and federal government.
--> Celebrating National Women's Day shouldn't be divisive. <--
It's not putting women above men. It does nothing to lessen any group of people.
It is a counterbalance to the part of our culture that :
- 100 years ago didn't allow women to vote
- 50 years ago they could be denied credit card because they were women
- today doesn't allow women freedom of personal decisions regarding their life, body, and future without government interference or coercion.
People who have a problem with recognizing holidays like this know the future is female, multicultural, and they are afraid they can't compete in that world.
They are probably right, and no matter how hard they try, they can't stop it.
